Beaufort woman accused of inappropriate conduct with boy, 16

BEAUFORT, S.C. (WCIV) -- A woman was arrested this week after Beaufort County deputies say she had inappropriate conduct with a 16-year-old boy.

According to deputies, Margaret Ann Lamantia was arrested after an investigation that started Tuesday when officials learned she had been contacting the Hilton Head High School student.

The student's parents filed the report, deputies said, after learning of the relationship.

Officials say the relationship began at school where the boy was a student in Lamantia's Spanish class. They exchanged phone numbers shortly before the Thanksgiving holiday and exchanged text messages, according to a report.

Between Nov. 29 and Nov. 30, deputies say Lamantia sent the 16-year-old a picture of her genitalia on SnapChat. Deputies say the illicit behavior continued when on Dec. 6, she asked the boy to buy marijuana for her.

According to deputies, the boy bought the marijuana and met her at the Island Rec Center to give it to her.

The boy's parents learned that their son, who had a job at the center, had been fired because he smelled like marijuana, according to the report, and they began asking him questions. He then admitted to the relationship with Lamantia.

Lamantia was charged with one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of disseminating harmful material to a minor.

Officials are still investigating.
