CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Johns Island man was arrested Wednesday, accused of having sexual intercourse with one girl and fondling another.

The suspect, 64-year-old Richard Ellwood Cox, was arrested at his home on Chisolm Road.

The US Marshals Fugitive Task Force had been staking out Cox's home for a few days and when he finally returned Wednesday, they took him into custody, the incident report states. The original accusations were made back in January by the girls' mother.

According to affidavits supplied by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, Cox had been watching the girls at his home in January. The 7-year-old girl said during an interview at the Dee Norton Lowcountry Children's Center that Cox had intercourse with her and made her touch him. The 5-year-old girl told officials he made her touch him as well and touched her with her clothes on.

According to court records, Cox is charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 11. One count is in the first degree and the other two are in the third degree.

He's currently being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.{}
