Charleston carpet cleaner accused of criminal sexual conduct with minor, deputies say
A Charleston carpet cleaner, Michael Wayne Callegan, is accused of sexual assault by a juvenile victim, according to Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputies.
Deputies say they met with the alleged victim on Wednesday, January 10 in reference to ongoing sexual assaults.
The victim told police they had been sexually assaulted multiple times by Callegan over the past couple of years.
Deputies say that the victim said last Christmas break in 2016, she drove Callegan in her passenger seat where she was sexually assaulted.
The victim also told police that in the past Callegan would rub her back and in the process would then touch her chest.
And on Thursday, January 4 the victim told police that he hugged her and tried to touch her chest again.
On that same day, police say the victim told them Callegan asked her to take a “suggestive” selfie while wearing a swimsuit.
The victim also told police that Callegan repeatedly asked her if she wanted any marijuana or have alcoholic drinks through the entirety of Christmas break from December 15 to January 9.
Deputies also say that the victim said prior to Christmas Day, Callegan sent her a text message asking her to come to his bedroom. She told police that when she entered the bedroom he appeared to be inappropriately touching himself.
Callegan is currently out of jail on a $75,000 bond.
