Charleston County sex offender gets 10-year prison sentence for failing to register

Andre Youngblood (Al Cannon Detention Center)

A former Hollywood resident has been sentenced to a decade in prison after failing to register as a sex offender, according to federal prosecutors.

Andre Youngblood, 42, was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release.

Prosecutors say Youngblood in 2003 was convicted and sentenced in New York on two counts of first degree sexual abuse, and was required to register for life as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

Officials say Youngblood registered as a sex offender in New York until March 2013but failed to do so once he relocated to South Carolina in 2014. Youngblood was located and arrested in New York in March 2016.
