Charleston man gets 25 year prison sentence for sexual assault of minors
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) —
A judge has handed down a 25-year prison sentence for a Charleston County man convicted of sex crimes against children.
A jury found Brian Daugherty guilty earlier this month of six charges, including two counts each of first and second degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, and two counts of a lewd act upon a m i nor.
Judge Roger L. Couch issued Daugherty's prison sentence today. Prosecutors with the 9th Circuit Solicitor's Office say Daugherty's victims were between the ages of six and eleven.
Prosecutors says Daugherty repeatedly assaulted the children and forced them to watch pornography over a two-year period from 2009 to 2011.
Daugherty was dating a relative of the victims at the time, and lived with them in a North Charleston apartment complex, prosecutors say.
Charleston County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Daugherty and charged him with these crimes in 2015.
