Couple leads Troopers on chase before being arrested on meth charges

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCIV) -- A couple traveling through Orangeburg County last week was charged with manufacturing meth after a crash that stemmed from a chase with the Highway Patrol.

According to Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, officers were called to Interstate 95 near the Highway 301 interchange on the evening of May 20 to assist the Highway Patrol.

Ravenell said state Troopers had been involved in a chase with Kristi Nicole Gladstone and Ricky Dewayne Johnson. During a search of the car, Troopers found what appeared to be materials used in making meth, Ravenell said.

Gladstone and Johnson were arrested and taken to the Orangeburg County Detention Center. Their bond was set at $7,500.
