Defendant in fatal Goose Creek apartment fire sentenced

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- One of the men involved in a meth lab operation at a Goose Creek apartment complex was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Wednesday.

{}Thirty-four-year-old Jerald McCabewas sentenced for conspiring to manufacture methamphetamine and manufacturing methamphetamine where children reside.

He had pleaded guilty in April.

The meth lab investigation started as a result of an apartment fire in Goose Creek in May 2012. The fire killed three people and displaced dozens of others living at the apartment complex.

Investigators found that McCabe and Shonni Abernathy were baking meth in one of the apartments where the fire began.
