GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Goose Creek man was arrested and charged with soliciting a child after Berkeley County deputies and the state Attorney General's office looked into text messages he was sending to a friend's daughter.
According to a release from the Attorney General, Michael Wayne Manar was charged after an undercover detective took over the minor girl's account and began texting Manar. During the alleged conversations, Manar said he wanted to meet for sex.
He was arrested last week after showing up at a meeting place set up by Manar and the undercover officer, the statement reads.
Manar has been charged with one count of criminal solicitation of a minor and second-degree attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
His bond was set at $90,000 and a judge ordered him to refrain from any communication with children under the age of 17, stay off of the Internet and cellphones and stay a half mile away from places where children gather.
