Joint Base Charleston's fire chief transferred after drug charge

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Joint Base Charleston's fire chief is facing a court martial and is "filling other duties," after drug allegations surfaced, base officials said.

According to Joint Base officials, CMSgt. Derrick Joe was accused of wrongfully using cocaine, a violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Joe was serving as the base's fire chief at the time the charges were filed.

Officials said Joe's role had been shifted to focus on other duties until his court appearance.

A court martial has been scheduled for Jan. 22, 2014.
