Man acquitted in Garrett Academy sex assault case

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A man accused of sexually assaulting a girl while he was employed at Garrett Academy as a day porter was acquitted on Wednesday.

Kirby Wright, 46, was accused of sexually abusing a girl who was in his care.

According to court documents, the sexual assault happened between June and August of 2010. Those papers say Wright was babysitting the victim when he allegedly abused her.

The victim was 9 years old at the time of the incident.

The victim says Wright led her into his bedroom to show her his daughter's dollhouse. From there the report says Wright forced the girl onto his bed and raped her.
