Men escaped shooter in the middle of Colleton County road, report states
The Colleton County Sheriff's Office is investigating a case where a person stood in the road and opened fire on a Chevy Silverado with two occupants on Friday evening.
According to an incident report provided the sheriff's office, the incident happened in the area of Miracle Road and Lowcountry Highway. The two men in the truck said they had just stopped at Sniders Crossroads to get cigarettes. They told officers they believed a man in a white Pontiac sitting on the side of the road was responsible.
"...The guy was in the highway with what appeared to be a rifle in his hands pointed at the vehicle," the reports states. "The victim said he stopped and the suspect began shooting at his vehicle."
The two men in the 2017 green Silverado escaped injury. The report indicates the truck was struck by several rounds. The investigating officer found a large hole in the front windshield, several bullet holes in the rear window and a round that struck the driver's headrest. The officer also found a partial bullet fragment in the tailgate of the truck.
On the side of the road where the shooting happened, the officer said he found 10 shell casings.
As of Monday morning, there were no arrests or named suspects in the case.
