MPPD: Man arrested for receiving marijuana in the mail
MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston County Sheriff's detectives were inspecting packages at an unidentified commercial shipping center when they found a package that raised their suspicions.According to a Mount PLeasant police report, the detective found a package that "exhibited characteristics that were consistent with a drug laden parcel" and immediately got a search warrant.Investigators reportedly found a half pound of marijuana and a small silver tin of what was later determined to be hashish.The CCSO teamed up with the Charleston County Metro Major Case office at Mt. Pleasant police headquarters, MPPD Narcotics officers and the MPPD Warrant Service team to deliver the package to the person it was addressed to - Jared Smalls.The report says when they delivered the package, the suspect, identified as Maxwell Murphy Blank, came from the left side of the home to pick up the package and was detained by police.MPPD officials said Blank admitted to ordering the drugs under a fictitious name from someone in Colorado. The home the package was delivered to was empty and cleared by police.Blank was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, PWID near a school, PWID hashish, and PWID hashish near a school.He was given a $10,000 bond for each charge totaling $40,000.
