NORTH CHARLESOTN, S.C. (WCIV) -- North Charleston police were called to Trident Hospital earlier this month to investigate the rape of a 4-year-old girl.

According to a police report, the victim's mother{} said the suspect, Myron Nevarez (who was 16 at the time but has since turned 17) was visiting her Dorchester Road apartment with his mother.

The victim's mother said she went to the store leaving the girl in Nevarez's mother's care. When she returned home, she said the mother was gone and her daughter came to the door saying she was "hurting."

When asked where she was hurt the girl reportedly said "my bottom."

Police report Nevarez claimed the girl fell on a toy airplane. He told the mother that he did unclothe the girl but only to clean her up.

The girl, however, had a different story and told her mother that Nevarez had assaulted her.

Nevarez is charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 11.
