Officials: Student took unloaded gun to school

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Fort Dorchester High School student was arrested Friday morning after officials say he took a gun to school.

According to district officials, the student had the unloaded gun with him during gym class. Another student saw it when it fell from his pocket and told a teacher.{}

The gun was taken, officials said, and the student was taken into police custody.{}

Officials said the student who had the gun had just transferred to the school.

The North Charleston Police Department is investigating the incident.
