PD confirms scene of earlier fire held meth materials

      GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- Police have confirmed the fire they responded to at a home on South Pandora Drive in Goose Creek was related to a meth lab found in the home.

      Sources say there was a reported fire in the bathroom of the home around 9:45 p.m. on July 30. The fire was believed to be out when emergency units arrived.

      Officers with the Goose Creek Police Department remained on scene into Thursday morning.

      According to an incident report from the Goose Creek Police Department,{} a witness told officers that she went outside and heard children screaming that someone wa on fire. She said she saw her neighbor smoldering while another person sprayed him with a water hose.Meanwhile, she said her neighbor's brother threw things out of the back window and into a fire pit that was burning in the backyard. She said he threw gas on the pit and lit it on fire.Another witness told officers he heard an explosion and found the neighbor smoldering on the ground, "still partially on fire." That's when he started spraying him with the garden hose.Officers report a search of the fire pit uncovered "several smoldering/melted batteries, packets of unknown type pills, a melted measuring cup, and several burnt coffee filters commonly used in the manufacturing of methamphetamines."Officers also said it looked like an explosion had happened in the bathroom and there were water bottles and coffee filters throughout the home.The report states a search of the woods also uncovered "partially melted plastic bottles containing a white substance, packages believed to contain synthetic marijuana, plastic tubing, coffee filters, pills, small plastic baggies, batteries, and several other items scattered through the woods."A list of property that was confiscated included two silver grinders, 0.5 grams of marijuana, 15 packs (20 grams) of black diamond spice and coffee filters with meth residue.Officials said there have been no warrants issued or arrests made in this case as of Monday afternoon.?Stay with ABC News 4 for more on this developing story.
