Police arrest man for assault near Ashley Hall School

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston Police were called to Ashley Hall School Thursday for reports of a strange man harassing students a couple of blocks from the school.

According to a police report, a man was intimidating the school children in the area of Rutledge Ave. and Cannon St. around 7 a.m.

The suspect is described as a black male, around 50 years old with a "stubbly mustache." He was wearing a black or blue jacket, beanie style hat, dark pants and loafer style shoes.

One of the students told police the man had walked up to her and a group of kids walking to school from an off-campus parking lot. She said the man "whispered sexually suggestive remarks" at her. Another student said the man "reached out towards her" but didn't touch her.

Police have arrested 50-year-old Quinton Cornell Richardson. He is charged with assault and battery in the second degree and felony stalking.
