NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a woman for beating a child with a plastic stick back November of last year.
According to incident reports, deputies met with Department of Social Service counselors at Pepperhill Elementary on November 14.
A NCPD school resource officer took the 10-year-old victim into protective custody. The child reportedly had bruising on the right side of his face and right ear as well as bruises on his left arm and elbow. According to the report the child told authorities who had inflicted the injuries.
DSS told deputies that during a field trip, the boy had a bowel movement in his pants and didn't tell anyone and that was the reason the suspect hit the child.
According to the report the boy was struck with a plastic stick and there were witnesses to the abuse.
Tia Hargrove, 30, was arrested and charged Thursday with ill treatment of a child.
