Report: Canadian Mounties intercept Stall High gun tweet
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A potential gun threat at Stall High School Wednesday morning was picked up by Canadian Mounties stationed in Washington, D.C.
According to a police report, Charleston County Dispatch was alerted to a possible threat at the school by Royal Canadian Mounted Police officials who spotted threats on social media. Dispatch alerted police who went to the school to find the student and put the school on lock down.
The student, who was in class at the time police arrived the report states, was searched for weapons. While officers did not find a weapon, they did detect a strong odor of marijuana and found a small bag of pot in his pants.
The student, identified as 17-year-old Shermaine Whitley, was arrested and charged with simple possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct.
He is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
The lockdown was put into place around 8:45 a.m. but was lifted a short time later.
