Screenshots of a viral Facebook post sent to ABC News 4 Wednesday reportedly show a Stall High School student posing with what appears to be a handgun in the school's bathroom.

Stall High officials addressed the photo in a now deleted post on the school's Facebook page Wednesday night, saying they learned of the photo late Wednesday afternoon. School officials say they immediately contacted North Charleston Police to investigate.

"This kind of behavior will not be tolerated by R.B. Stall High School or Charleston County School District. The student will face serious consequences," school officials said in the Facebook post.

School officials say they do not know exactly when the photo was taken. The time stamp on the photo is from Wednesday, but that doesn't mean the photo was taken Wednesday. Neither is it confirmed the photo was actually taken on school property.

North Charleston Police public information officer Spencer Pryor says NCPD is investigating, but deferred further questions to the Charleston County School District.

CCSD spokesman Andy Pruitt when reached Wednesday night sent a statement on the situation which match verbatim the statement posted to Stall High School's Facebook page earlier in the night. That Facebook post by Stall High School has since been deleted.
