Traffic backs up on I-26 after wreck, meth lab find

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A motorcycle wreck and a traffic stop leading to a meth lab bust have traffic on Interstate 26 at a standstill through North Charleston.

According to North Charleston police, officers made a traffic stop around 8 p.m. Friday on I-26 west near Aviation Avenue and discovered a meth lab in the car.

HazMat crews responded, police said, and two people were taken into custody.

North Charleston police identified the driver as Frank Freeman and charged him with manufacturing meth. The woman in the car with Freeman has been "deceptive" about her identity, police said.

She was also arrested and charged with manufacturing meth, but police do not have her name. Freeman's bond was set at $50,000.

Charleston County Dispatch officials said there was also an accident on I-26 involving a motorcycle and another car. There was also a fight after the accident, officials said.

Police have not released any information about the two people taken into custody after the meth find.
