Warrants issued for Colleton County Christmas day attempted murder suspect
Colleton County authorities are searching for a man accused of trying to shoot and kill another outside a home in Walterboro on Christmas day.
According to the Colleton County Sheriff's Office, Sam Quentin Brown, 29, of Walterboro, is wanted for attempted murder after pulling a gun and shooting at the father of his girlfriend's child.
The shooting happened around 5:15 p.m. Dec. 25 on Gadsden Loop, just outside Walterboro city limits, according to the sheriff's office.
The target of the alleged shooting, Shawn Washington, told deputies Brown came to his mother's address on Gadsden Loop with Candace Irvin.
Washington told deputies he and Irvin share a child together from a past relationship, but that Irvin and Brown are together now, and were at the home to pick up the child.
Deputies say Washington told them the altercation happened when he walked out onto the porch, and overheard Brown talking to his (Washington's) mother.
Washington told deputies he questioned Brown about what he was saying, and Brown pulled a gun.
Irvin and Washington's mother grabbed Brown as he pointed the gun, Washington said, but Brown fired a shot nonetheless. No one was hurt in the shooting, deputies say.
Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Sam Quentin Brown is asked to contact the Colleton County Sheriff's Office at 843-549-2211, or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
