#DinnerOnDave Eli's Table edition

Mushroom bruschetta (WCIV)

This week's #DinnerOnDave was downtown, right in the heart of it all near the Market on Meeting street. I was excited to be invited by the good folks at Eli's Table to come in and indulge in their culinary treats.

Eli's Table is in a nicely restored, Charleston historic building. The host station with a cozy bar are there to greet you when you walk in the door with an intimate half dining room to the left, and an open rustic other half dining room with open kitchen to the right. There is an additional seating area out back on the patio.

I had the pleasure of Fox 24's Leyla Gulen joining me on my dining expedition. She's a foodie, so it was fun to bring her along for some great food!

I must say Eli's Table really rolled out the red carpet and made us feel welcome.

The chef wanted us to get a quick taste of what was good on Wednesday night, an amuse-bouche. It was a Mushroom Bruschetta. It was huge, not just a quick bite, gorgeous, and a knife and fork was required. I really liked it and mushrooms aren't my favorite.

After the delicious formidable starter, we also decided on the Smoked Tuna Tower. I'm a big fan of tuna tartare, and this was one of the best. The smoky flavor really floods each bite. Aadd the capers and the arugula with crème fraiche, and it was heavenly.

Leyla decided on the Duck and Waffles. It was seared duck breast on sweet potato waffles with Brussels sprouts and a malted bacon glaze. It must have been good, because it was gone quickly.

I went with the pork chop special of the day. It was a bone in pork chop with a demi-glace on top of haricot verts and roasted potatoes. It was delicious. The pork chop was tender, juicy and perfectly cooked.

We probably shouldn't have, but we did. We each got a dessert. Leyla got the Chocolate Decadence cake, and I again got the daily special, Pumpkin Pie. I know, pumpkin pie, but I'm glad I did, because it was the best I've ever had. It was smooth with a rich texture and it was spiced perfectly.

Leyla got to choose the winner of the $50 gift card. She saw a couple having a good time and enjoying a nice conversation across the restaurant. I took them the gift card and had the pleasure of meeting Kaylen Harris and Morgan McCall. I joined in the conversation for a bit and really enjoyed chatting them up.

Another great #Dinner on Dave filled with food, friends and giving away $50. Who knows, I may run into you at one of the Lowcountry's many quality eateries next Wednesday.
