Coastal Carolina Fair leaders award scholarships to Lowcountry college students
The Coastal Carolina Fair leaders presented scholarships to local college students on Thursday.
The leaders hosted a luncheon in downtown Charleston.
The Exchange Club awarded $52,000 to nearly 30 students in the Tri-County.
“I was overwhelmed with joy and appreciation because I know what the Exchange Club does for the community itself. I was just super thankful,” said Shama Winston-Ford, a senior at Charleston Southern University.
Individuals that were awarded scholarships demonstrated the Exchange Club values of community.
“For me personally, it’s going to help me get to where I want to be in life and help me fulfill the dreams of being a psychologist one day,” said Winston-Ford.
Last year the fair raised nearly $800,000 which helped support the local community.
We won’t find out how much they raised this year until January.
