Goose Creek McDonald's robbery attempt goes awry, suspect in jail
GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) —
An alleged robbery suspect’s plan to hold up the McDonald'ss on North Goose Creek Boulevard went haywire Thursday, landing the suspect in jail.
According to the Goose Creek Police, a man with a bandanna over his mouth wearing one glove attempted to rob the business with a knife.
The suspect, identified as Lockwood Anderson, first told the McDonald’s manager that the toilet in the restroom was overflowing.
While in the restroom with another employee, Anderson allegedly told the employee he was about to rob the place.
Anderson reportedly then ran out of the bathroom pointing a knife at the manager, telling her to give him the money in the register, or he would stab her, according to police.
The manager told Goose Creek PD as she went for the money, Anderson ran out of the building.
Goose Creek PD officers say they later found Anderson behind Gene’s Pawn Shop, less than .1 mile away from the McDonald's. Police say witnesses positively identified Anderson as the robber.
Anderson is now being held at the Berkeley County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
