CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- While public transportation in Charleston has never been expensive, this Friday, February 28, it will be free!
The Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority is offering unlimited rides on all CARTA routes for the entire day.
Organizers said it's a chance for first-time riders to see if public transportation is for them while regular riders get treated to a day of skipping fares. It's a savings of up to $3 each way.
CARTA runs through Charleston and the surrounding areas including West Ashley, North Charleston, Mount Pleasant and Summerville. For a full map of CARTA routes, click here.
You can also track how long it will be before a bus stops at any designated stop by using CARTA's Bus Tracker. Click here for an interactive map.
The free ride is sponsored by McDonalds and Friday's riders will also receive coupons to the fast food chain.
