Five Lowcountry students brought honesty, energy, and a tremendous sense of resolve to the table in a frank discussion this week about gun violence threatening schools.

The panel included:

  • Phaizon, an Eagle Scout from Fort Dorchester
  • Mayson, a Berkeley County Sheriff's Office cadet at Goose Creek High School
  • Maya, a community activist from Charleston County School of the Arts
  • Jacob, a political blogger at Ashley Ridge High School; and
  • Jefferson, a student activist at Palmetto Scholars Academy

Their statements and feelings were eye-opening, even to their parents watching in a nearby green room at the ABC News 4 television studios.

ABC News 4 will speak to this group of students again, later this month, after the March For Our Lives Rally.
