Couple says "I do" a day early on Folly Beach thanks to Hurricane Irma

(WCIV)

A wedding by the sea on Folly Beach was a dream come true for a Lowcountry couple Friday, despite interference from Hurricane Irma.

Leticia and Jonah Jackson had been planning their big day for months, but Hurricane Irma almost stopped the show.

“If we had had the wedding tomorrow, this more than likely wouldn't have happened. So we lucked out having a Friday wedding.” Jonah said.

But tying the knot Friday all depended on Leticia's parents arriving on time. That was no given, with them having to make an international flight across the Caribbean from Brazil.

Leticia's mother got caught in Miami on a layover with Hurricane Irma bearing down, leaving Jonah and Leticia on edge.

"When she made it here that was the main thing, after she got here, everything was fine.”

The couple and their parents are no strangers to bad weather.

“Her dad came to visit last year during Hurricane Matthew, and we had to delay his flight, so we couldn't believe another hurricane came.” Jonah said.

The Jacksons have now said their “I do's,” and have no doubts about their future.

“Our love can weather any storm.”
