Police: Disgruntled former contractor sprayed 'brown liquid' onto Harris Teeter produce
Charleston police have arrested and charged a man they say sprayed a ‘brown liquid’ from a spray bottle onto produce at West Ashley’s Harris Teeter located at 975 Savannah Highway.
“A disgruntled, former contractor attempted to contaminate food products in the produce department and fresh foods department inside our St. Andrews Shopping Center location,” says Danna Robinson a Harris Teeter representative.
Dispatch received the call around 1:00 p.m. Pau S. Hang, pictured above, was later taken into custody. Records indicate he's been arrested at the store several times.
Officials still do not know what was in the bottle and will be testing what was sprayed to determine what substance it was, says Charleston Police's Charles Francis.
Harris Teeter has contacted the Charleston County Department of Health, and the affected areas will not re-open until the department of health gives approval.
