Electric outage planned for St. Stephen
ST. STEPHEN, S.C. (WCIV) - Santee Cooper has planned an hour-long outage on July 4 for the residents of St. Stephen to repair the main line feeding the St. Stephen substation.
Officials said the outage would begin at 8 a.m. and last about an hour.
"Planned outages are, at times, the only way we can repair equipment or lines while keeping the public and our line technicians safe," said Marc Tye, senior vice president of customer service. "By preparing ahead of time and planning a short outage, we can mitigate lengthier outages in the future."
It's expected the outage will affect 1,000 businesses and homes.
In the event of unplanned outages, customers can report them online at santeecooper.com or by calling 1-888-769-7688.
Customers also can visit Santee Cooper's Storm Center at stormcenter.santeecooper.com to view real-time outage information and estimated restoration times.
