Former detention center officer arrested for relationship with inmate, domestic violence
Marlboro County, S.C. (WCIV) —
Tramina Shada McLaurin, 24, a former detention center officer at the Marlboro County Detention Center, has been arrested in connection with a relationship with an inmate and a domestic incident with that man.
According to an arrest warrant, McLaurin began a relationship with the inmate around October 2017. She has continued the relationship.
The relationship was confirmed based on an audio recorded statement from McLaurin and telephone conversations between McLaurin and the inmate while the inmate was incarcerated at another institution.
On April 12, McLaurin was accused of domestic violence by cutting the man on the left side of his abdomen while in Bennettsville, a city in Marlboro County.
He required medical treatment for his injury an emergency center. The incident took place in front of the couple’s two children.
McLaurin was arrested Wednesday by members of the S.C. Law Enforcement Division.
She has been charged with public official misconduct in office and domestic violence, second degree.
The case was investigated by SLED at the request of the Marlboro County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the Fourth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
