Firefighter transported to hospital while responding to call on John's Island
The St. John's Fire Department and Charleston Fire Department responded to 1400 Brickyard Road on John's Island Thursday evening for a possible structure fire.
Fire personnel arrived on scene and discovered a fire in the rear of an elevated single story trailer, according to the St. John's Fire Department. Crews were able to bring the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes.
One St. John’s firefighter was transported to a local hospital as a precaution due to exhaustion, the department stated. He has since been treated and was released last night, the St. Johns Fire Department said.
The American Red Cross says they are helping two adults by providing financial assistance for food, clothing, lodging and other essentials.
No other injuries were reported.
