Funeral arrangements made for Muhiydin D'Baha Moye, Black Lives Matter activist
The funeral arrangements for Muhiydin D’Baha Moye have been announced by his family with Dickerson Mortuary.
Moye’s celebration of life services will be held on Thursday, February 15 at noon at Royal Missionary Baptist Church located at 4761 Luella Avenue in North Charleston.
And the viewing for Moye will on Wednesday, February 14 at Charity Baptist Church 1544 E. Montague Avenue also in North Charleston. This showing will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The family will be receiving friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
An additional viewing will be on Thursday, February 15 at Royal Missionary Baptist Church from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Dickerson Mortuary says no there will be no viewings after the services.
Moye,32, a Black Lives Matter activist was shot in the high in New Orleans. New Orleans Police say he later died in a local hospital.
Moye gained national notoriety in February 2017, when news cameras recorded him jumping through police tape in Charleston as he tried to take a protester's large Confederate battle flag.
Upon the death of Moye, Camille Weaver, Moye's niece, started a GoFundMe page to help pay for funeral expenses and get his body back to Charleston. Weaver only asked for $7,500, but as of February, 13 the GoFundMe has raised $34,041.
