Update: Spring Street reopens to motorists after gas leak
Charleston, S.C. (WCIV) —
Update: The gas leak on Spring Street has been repaired. Eastbound lane now open to traffic. Crews are working on the clean-up on the westbound side. Workers are again milling on Spring Street and this will be intermittent.
A gas leak in the area of 106 Spring Street in downtown Charleston has resulted in the closing of Spring Street between Rutledge and Sires to motorists in both directions overnight Thursday.
No one had been asked to evacuate the area, said a police spokesperson.
According to the Charleston Police Department, South Carolina Electric and Gas has secured the leak with a temporary measure. It was reported earlier Thursday.
