Send Girl Scout cookies to troops overseas
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina are kicking off Girl Scout National Cookie Weekend Friday by collecting cookie orders to send to troops overseas.
"There is no better way to send our troops a true taste of home than to buy a box of Girl Scout Cookies for our soldiers deployed overseas," said Loretta Graham, CEO of GSESC. "This is a great way for the public to support the troops.
If you would like to send a box of cookies to troops, you can call (843) 552-9910 starting Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Extra staff will be on hand to answer the phones.
"Some bases sell cookies overseas but Girl Scout cookies? They don't taste like the ones from home - different baker altogether" said Patrice Rhett, Director of Product Programs. "So they are excited to get a piece of home and it reminds them that somebody cares about them."
Scouts and troops will also be out in the Lowcountry this weekend collecting special orders for the troops.
Each box costs $4. Each scout is trying to sell at least 24 boxes, which will earn them a special patch.
