James Island pedestrian hit by vehicle on Maybank Highway Tuesday morning
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating a crash after which a pedestrian was sent to MUSC with head and leg injuries.
Major Eric Watson with the CCSO said an Audi SUV was turning right out of the parking lot of James Island Cleaners at around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning when the pedestrian was struck.
The driver of the SUV, Watson said, saw a gap in oncoming traffic but did not see the pedestrian.
The man struck by the SUV fell back and hit his head on the roadway.
Maj. Watson said the investigation in ongoing.
