Kohl's Cares drops off $45,000 for MUSC Children's Hospital app

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - The MUSC Children's Hospital is getting a big check from Kohl's Cares during Sunday's Kids Fair.

According to a release, the $45,000 will go toward the development and marketing of a smartphone app for the Children's Hospital. The app will help parents manage their visits to the hospital as well as give health and safety tips.

The app, called For The Record, Kohl's Cares, is available in the Apple App Store now. It's available for iPhone 4, 4S, and 5.

The app lets parents the ability to access a child's health information.

"Parents will be able to input their child's birth date, age, allergies, insurance information, as well as immunization history and information on each immunization shot, plus receive notification alerts for upcoming immunization due dates," the release states.

The Kids Fair is being held at Burke High School until 4 p.m. The check was delivered at 12:30 p.m. with Charleston Mayor Joe Riley.

"Kohl's has been a great supporter of Children's Hospital's and children's health across the country.{}We are very fortunate to have such a great partner here in the Lowcountry," said John Sanders, Children's Hospital administrator. "Along with the donations which allow us to continue programs and develop new ones to benefit our families, Kohl's Associates in Action (AiA) volunteer on a regular basis to make many of our community outreach events a success."

Kohl'S Cares has donated nearly $350,000 to the MUSC Children's Hospital since 2004.
