Komen signs popping up on Daniel Island ahead of race day

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- There is a change of season taking place on Daniel Island, but it's not football or fall people are talking about -- it's Komen's Race for the Cure.

Race organizers on Tuesday started putting up flags and banners around the island.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the race and it's expected to be a big hit. Some 13,000 people will line up at the race's start.

"We are just a few weeks away from October which is National Breast Cancer awareness month and so I think people kind of like, you see Christmas decorations, you start seeing the Pink go up everywhere.{} And, I think you know that it creates a sense of excitement and anticipation for an incredible event," said Jessica Munday, the 2013 race chair.
