Officials: 'Don't let your guard down' in South Carolina
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster said there would be a decision made on potential evacuations orders later Friday evening as he also shared news he had rescinded an order to evacuate health care facilities in some counties.
McMaster said the mandatory order for health care facilities in Jasper County, Colleton County and Beaufort County remains.
The governor advised panic is not the answer as he attempted to address issues with gas shortages in some areas of the state.
"You don't need a full tank of gas if a half a tank will get you all the way to Spartanburg," the governor said.
McMaster also said if you don't need to be on the highway at this point, you should stay off the highway if possible.
Officials in the tri-county area followed the governor's update with a press conference of their own. Concerns discussed included flooding and storm surge.
"Please do not let your guard down," emergency operations consultant Cathy Haynes said.
The seasoned disaster situation manager said preparations for the worst should continue.
