No decision in Michael Slager retrial hearing
Michael Slager returned to a Charleston County courtroom Monday as attorneys in the case tried to finalize plans for the March 1 retrial.
It was the first time Slager has returned to court since his mistrial in November.
Andy Savage made his case for a continuance but no decision was reached and both sides will have to return Tuesday.
Savage motioned to delay the start of the March 1 trial earlier this month, saying they needed time too coordinate schedules with the experts needed to testify in the retrial.
If Judge Clifton Newman does not agree to the delay, it sets up a busy spring for Slager, who is also set to appear in federal court on civil rights violations related to the shooting of Walter Scott in 2015.
That trial is currently scheduled to begin on May 1.
