New information related to death of off-duty NCPD officer
New information from South Carolina Highway Patrol has been obtained in the death of North Charleston Police officer Ryan MacCluen.
Whitney Brooks was arrested and charged with a felony DUI despite blowing a 0.00 on her breath test.
The trooper on scene says he noticed Brooks had red glassy eyes, dry mouth, slow speech and delayed response. The trooper says the odor of alcohol was coming from Brooks as well.
During the field sobriety test, the report says Brooks had to use her arms to balance herself.
MacCluen was posthumously promoted to the Traffic Unit, a goal NCPD Chief Eddie Driggers said MacCluen was pursuing before he passed away last Thursday.
