Kapstone Paper Mill, North Charleston (WCIV)

Charleston County's Coroner has released the name of a man killed in an industrial accident Sunday at the Kapstone Paper Mill in North Charleston.

Lawrence Shiner, 60, of Moncks Corner died as the result of an accident at the facility Sunday night, the coroner's office says.

Kapstone officials said Monday Shiner died while doing maintenance work in an offline operating area. Another worker was injured, but released from the hospital.

Kapstone officials said the incident was reported to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and is under investigation.

"Our primary concern is for the privacy and welfare of the families involved and for the safety and well-being of employees working on our site," they said in a statement.

More information about specifics of the accident have not been released.

North Charleston's Fire Department is investigating the incident alongside OSHA and the coroner's office.

North Charleston's fire, rescue and police departments were originally called to a reported "confined space rescue" at the mill around 8:45 p.m. Sunday, officials say.
