North Charleston schools develop Unity Day Game in light of last year's deadly violence
The North Charleston High School and Garrett Academy of Technology football teams are set to play each other for a good cause.
On Friday Oct 28 in 2016, the teams were supposed to play each other but due to deadly violence and threats of more violence in the area, the Charleston County School District cancelled the game for the 2016 season.
According to the school district, in light of what of what happened last year, the two schools wanted to help inspire and unite their students.
So the idea of the first Unity Day Game between the two schools was developed.
The Unity Day Game and a day-long celebration will kick off at 11 A.M. on Saturday Oct 28 at the Hibbie Ayoub Stadium on Garrett Campus.
