COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCIV) - Average gas prices across the staterose by 3.5 cents per gallon in the last week, according to GasBuddy.com, a gasprice tracking website.
According to the website, the average price across the statewas $3.20 per gallon on Sunday. The average price per gallon nationally rose2.6 cents to $3.50 per gallon last week.
"The national average has unsurprisingly continued it'smarch higher, and for the sixth consecutive week, motorists have faced risinggasoline prices," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst PatrickDeHaan.
Including the change in price this week, prices are 24.6cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and 11.5 cents higherthan one month ago across the state.
Nationally, the price per gallon is 15.1 cents lower thanone year ago and 15.5 center higher than one month ago.
"While the rate that gasoline prices may slownationally this week, I don't yet believe we've seen the peak in prices.Refineries are in the middle of one of their two major yearly maintenanceseasons, which means as refineries wrap up their work in April, we could seerestarting issues, which could bring the spikes in gasoline prices we're nearlyaccustom to seeing every spring," DeHaan said.
