SC gas prices up 4 cents in last week

      COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCIV) -- Gas prices edged up four cents across the state of South Carolina last week to an average price of $3.27 per gallon.{}

      According to, the national prices only rose 1.8 cents to an average of $3.53 per gallon.{}

      "Another week, another rise in the nationalaverage," said Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan.{}

      Including the most recent increase, prices in the state were 11.8 cents lower per gallon that the same day one year ago but 12.9 cents higher than one month ago.{}

      Nationally, prices are 8.3 cents lower than one year ago and 9.2 cents higher than one month ago.

      "While gasoline prices have seen slight increases inthe last week, it still may get worse. Last week, the EIA reported a large dropin gasoline inventories as refiners purged supplies of winter spec gasoline.Refineries also utilized a lower amount of their capacity as maintenance seasoncontinues. In the next few weeks as maintenance is finished, there could belocalized price spikes. While gasoline prices are lower than I would haveexpected a few months ago, there is still some risk for higher prices in thedays ahead," DeHaan said.
