Second person charged in homicide of Patrick Moffly
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) —
Charleston police arrested a second suspect in the fatal shooting of Patrick Moffly last year inside his Smith Street apartment.
Police say the investigation led them to the conclusion the shooting was drug-related.
According to Charleston police, 22-year-old John Jonny Glover is charged with murder. He is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.
The first suspect to be arrested in the case was 21-year-old Charles Edwards Mungin. He was also charged with murder.
Police responded to Moffly's Smith Street apartment the afternoon of the shooting where they were met at the door by a man who ushered them inside. That's where they found Moffly lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Moffly was taken to MUSC where he died.
Investigators learned the suspects went to Smith Street to meet with Moffly to buy drugs. There was a fight, police said, and Moffly was shot and killed.
Detectives are still investigating the shooting and trying to identify other people involved in the crime.
