Six people killed on SC roads over the weekend
Six people died on South Carolina roadways between December 8 to December 10. The South Carolina Department of Public safety announced the preliminary number today. One was a pedestrian death, one was a moped death, another person was riding an ATV. It is not currently known if the ATV or moped drivers were wearing helmets. In three of the deaths, seat belts were not used. 294 of the 610 motor vehicle occupants who died on SC roads in 2017 were not wearing seat belts. As of December 10, 914 people have died on palmetto state highways. 966 highway deaths had occurred during this same time period in 2016.
