'Sweet tea vodka' maker Firefly opening second Lowcountry distillery in North Charleston
(WCIV) -- Firefly Distillery has announced it is expanding its Charleston County operations with a new distillery set to open by fall 2019.
The $7.3 million investment is expected to create 20 new jobs at a new facility on Valdosta Street in North Charleston.
Firefly officials say hiring for new positions should begin in early 2019, with production to begin later in the year.
“We are very excited about our new distillery experience coming to North Charleston," Firefly Distillery President Scott Newitt said. "We will offer new expanded tours, tastings and consumer events at our new 16-acre Creekside venue.”
Based out of Wadmalaw Island, Firefly produces craft liquors, most notable being its Sweet Tea Vodka and Southern Lemonade, which are distributed nationally.
