Two arrested in Mount Pleasant bank robbery

Bishop and Backman (CCSO)

Mount Pleasant police have arrested two people they say robbed the United Community Bank in Park West last week.

According to MtPPD officials, Kalee D. Lynn-Bishop and Kamal D’Andrea Backman are charged with armed robbery.

“Our detectives worked around the clock following every lead to identify these dangerous individuals and take them into custody,” said Chief Carl Ritchie.

According to an incident report, four armed thieves got away with $25,000 in cash. They also stole an employee's iPhone, and another bank worker's purse.

Witnesses told police they saw four thin black males in all-black clothing run out of the bank and head toward Park West Boulevard. According to employees, one of the four men stood watch, while the other three demanded money.

Police did not have any information on the other three men and said the investigation is still ongoing.

If anyone knows anything about this or any other crime, they are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.

We will update this story when more information becomes available.
