U.S.S. Ralph Johnson will be commissioned in Charleston, next year
It is official, the U.S.S. Ralph Johnson will take to the sea.
On March 24, 2018 the 64th Arleigh Burke-class destroyer will be commissioned with a ceremony in Charleston, where the Medal of Honor recipient is originally from.
Ralph H. Johnson received the Medal of Honor, after his death, for his heroic actions during the Vietnam War, when he covered a grenade with his body to save the lives of fellow marines.
The nearly $700 million ship will be based in Everett, Washington, when it joins the fleet.
