Veterans Day events around the Lowcountry

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- There are several Veterans Day events planned around the Lowcountry beginning this weekend.

Monday, Nov. 11

Beaufort: Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony-- The parade will begin downtown at 9:30 a.m.-- After the parade, there will be a ceremony in the Beaufort National Cemetery at 11 a.m.

    Georgeto Veterans Day Parade

    -- The parade route begins at East Bay Park at 4 p.m.-- The line will begin at 3:30 p.m.

      Mount Pleasant: Veterans Day Celebration at Patriots Point

      • The celebration kicks off at 9:30 a.m. in the Stoney Stover Theater.
      • A symposium featuring a World War II Women Air force Service Pilot will start at 11 a.m.
      • The United States Postal Service will unveil the new Congressional Medal of Honor-WWII stamps on the Yorktown
      • After the symposium, the U.S. Naval Academy Women's Glee Club will perform.
      • World War II veterans who are also museum volunteers will be honored with a birthday cake and song.
      • The event will be streamed here.
      • Veterans will be admitted free of charge.

      North Charleston: Annual Veterans Day Tribute

      • The city will host the tribute from 10:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. at Park Circle.
      • Mayor Keith Summey and City Council members will honor local veterans.
      • Prior to the ceremony, a story swap will be held at the Felix Davis Community Center at 9:30 a.m. Veterans will be able to share stories will fellow veterans. It is open to the public.

        The following places are recognizing retired veterans and active duty military personal on Veterans Day with free admission, services and meals:
        • Applebees: Veterans and active-duty military personnel can choose a free meal off of a special menu.
        • Bed Bath and Beyond: Active-duty soldiers, veterans and military spouses will save 20% off their entire purchase Nov. 9- Nov. 11.
        • CARTA: The transportation system will{}provide free rides for any veteran of the US armed forces or active duty member. Passengers will need to show proper identification.
        • Charleston Animal Society: Fee-waived adoptions are available for all military personal, both retired and active, now through Monday, Nov. 11.{}
        • Chili's:{}Veterans and active-duty military receive a free meal from a special Veterans Day menu.
        • Golden Corral: From 4 p.m. until 9 p.m., veterans and active-duty soldiers will get a free buffet meal and beverage.
        • Great Clips: Customers who come in for a haircut will receive a free haircut card to give to a veterans. Military members can also get a free haircut on Veterans Day or pick up a free haircut card to use any time before the end of the year.
        • Home Depot: Veterans and active-duty soldiers will get at 10% discount.{}
        • JCPenney: From Nov. 6-11, the store is offering a 20% off in-store discount for all current and former military personnel and family members of active duty, reserves, guard and retirees.
        • Krispy Kreme: All people who have served or are currently serving in the military will be offered a free doughnut and coffee.{}
        • Lowe's: All veterans will receive a 10% discount.{}
        • Magnolia Plantation and Gardens: Free general garden admission for{}retired military veterans and their spouses, and active duty military personnel and their dependent children{}on Sunday, Nov. 10 and Monday, Nov. 11.
        • O'Charley's: Veterans and active-duty service men and women with proper identification will be given a complimentary meal.
        • Outback Steakhouse: Veterans and active-duty soldiers will get a free Bloomin' Onion and beverage.
        • Patriots Point: Veterans will be admitted for free on Monday, Nov. 11.{}
        • Red Lobster: All veterans and military personnel will receive a complimentary Texas Tonion appetizer and non-alcoholic beverage.{}
        • Shoney's Restaurant: Veterans and active-duty soldiers will get a free cheeseburger.
        • Texas Roadhouse: Veterans and active-duty members of the military will get free lunch Monday, Nov. 11.
        • Meineke on Rivers Avenue: Free oil changes to all veterans on Nov. 11.
        • David's Bridal: Offering a 20-percent, week-long military discount between Veterans Day and Friday, Nov. 15.
